the hotel never changed Beaune - France the children enjoyed the trip
Monday 12th July 04

Billy, John and Phillip have now started to head home through France stopping south of Dijon at Beaune (Looks quite a size with loads of hotels). Sadly waterproofs had to be put in use for 20 miles or so. The run overall was brilliant keeping of the motorways and using the more scenic N roads. We decided to take the long way round over the mountains rather than use the Tunnel From Bardonecchia.

Trevor with his 2 kids Sarah and Ben have headed for a few days camping in Germany as he does not catch the ferry home till Saturday, while Ian with son Jake, Allistar and Denny have headed further south to Mamora approx 140 miles to join up some others to do some riding off road. Again they do not have to be at ferry till Saturday along with Trevor.

I have to say that this town is a pearler and well worth a visit the beer was up to standard as was the meal.

Today's Log 265 miles in 5hrs 30 mins

Departed Beaune with only motorway ahead 330 fast miles. Managed this, which is copied from the GPS log over 1 stretch
ACTIVE LOG 005 13/07/2004 10:12:57 00:52:48mins76.1 miles ave87 mph
So we were not hanging around.

The plan was to head for spa in Belgium and for a treat for John dropped in the GP circuit to see if we could get a look around, better still we landed at a back exit and managed to get round the outside track and into the paddocks. Luck was on our side and to add to the bargain racing was taking place.

Tonight is to be the night of all nights as it is John's 50th birthday tomorrow, We even went over budget to get him a nice hotel room. Tomorrow is only a 150 mile jump to the ferry for 6pm departure. arriving in Hull at 9am Thursday
